Two Men · One Mandate

Which man are you?

This guide was written for two kinds of men. Both miss the mandate. Both get called back by the same five commands.

The Passive Man

You went soft.

Somewhere along the way you got handed a soft version of the faith. Show up Sunday. Feel something. Go home. Wait for heaven. You call yourself saved, but you are building nothing, leading no one, taking no ground.

Hear me. God did not save you to sit down. The first words He ever spoke over a man were a charge to work. This guide is your way off the bench.

The Driven Man

You're building. But for whose name?

You grind hard. You provide. You chase the scoreboard. And it still feels empty, because the world sold you a scoreboard God does not keep.

The mandate is not less work. It is the same strength aimed at the right King. Build for His name instead of yours, and the emptiness dies. This guide shows you how.

There is no such thing as a lazy Christian. You were not saved into a recliner. You were saved for works.

What's Inside

The Five Commands

Five imperative verbs God spoke over man before the Fall. They were never canceled. They were renewed at the cross. This is the outline of your life's work.

Honor Where Honor Is Due

This is not a new idea. It is the oldest job God ever gave.

The five commands come straight off the first page of your Bible. Genesis 1:28. The Reformed men who came before us called it the Cultural Mandate, and they built their lives and their nations on it.

What follows is our adaptation, written in our voice, for our men. The theology underneath it belongs to John Calvin, the Puritans, and men like Thomas Watson, Matthew Henry, John Owen, and Herman Bavinck. If these commands land on you, do not stop here. Go read them.

I

Be Fruitful

Para · Psalm 1:3

Produce something beyond yourself. The fruitful man is rooted. Planted in the Word, in a real church, in work that matters, in disciplines he does not skip. Roots before branches.

II

Multiply

Raba · Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Replicate yourself. Raise sons who love God. Lead your house in the Word. Pour into the man coming up behind you. You multiply when you hand off what you were given.

III

Fill the Earth

Matthew 5:14-16

Do not retreat. Do not build a bunker and wait for heaven while the culture rots. Show up in your trade, your city, your home, your church. Work like a man who has something to offer, because God made you to offer it.

IV

Subdue It

Kabash · 1 Corinthians 9:27

Conquer. The ground does not farm itself. Bring the raw material under order through sweat. And subdue it inward too. The man who cannot rule his own chest will not rule much else. Master the mundane.

V

Have Dominion

Radah · Colossians 3:23-24

Govern the sphere God gave you as a king under the King. Run your household well. Lead with excellence. Dominion is not reserved for big men in big seats. It is the calling of every man who carries the image of God.

Bonus Inside

The Bench Test.

Two men can sit in the same pew on Sunday. One is under the mandate. One is on the bench. Inside the guide: a full check, command by command, on which man you actually are.

Under The Mandate

A Man Who Builds

Planted in the Word and a church. Leading his home. Taking ground in his work for God's glory. Pouring into younger men. Fruitful, on purpose, under God.

On The Bench

A Man Who Coasts

Calls himself saved but builds nothing. Waits for Sunday, or for heaven. Or grinds only for his own name and wonders why it all feels empty. Passive is not humble. It is disobedient.

The Charge

Build. Lead. Take Ground.
